Processing

DP Direct has developed unique software to import and process all forms of data quickly and accurately

We like to make life easier for all our clients at DP Direct. So, whatever format you want to send your data to us in, we've developed a unique software programme that enables us to handle all formats and process it quickly and accurately.

You can send data to us as email, CD's, Cartridges, VPN, FTP, Mag tapes, Encrypted, directly into our system and loads more.... Our data processing team will ensure your requirements are met quickly and efficiently, making seemingly impossible deadlines happen.

However simple or complex the project, our software delivers fast, accurate results including all standard processes such as de-duplication.

Laser printing

Whether flat sheet or continuous, we laser print up to half a million per day to meet your budget and deadlines.

At DP Direct we use the most sophisticated systems on the market to give you the widest choice in terms of cost, speed and flexibility. from printing plastic membership cards to complex personalised mailers, we offer a state-of-the art service to meet the most challenging demands.

For even greater speed and economy, Continuous laser printing is the solution. We have recently added a Delphax CR900, which prints full 600 x 600 dpi quality with web width of 500mm.

This remarkable machine, the first in the UK, happily prints duplex as well as simplex but without the complexities of joining two machines together. The difference in cost between Cut sheet and Continuous for duplex printing is truly staggering and the speed of production is equally surprising.

To ensure the biggest savings, we recommend pre-printing, on reels up to 40,000 feet, rather than fan-folded. We can also print on larger formats, up to A2.

Wrapping

At DP Direct we make polythene a creative as well as economic option.

Clients are increasingly interested in exploring the economics and aesthetics of polythene wrapping. This can be an ideal solution for enclosing heavier items and can also be used creatively for direct mail. Polythene can be pre-printed in 4/5 colours or metalised for dramatic impact.

We offer a high degree of versatility with our three polyline machines. We can enclose a maximum of 6 inserts up to A3 in size per machine, plus magazine shuttle feed. If you require even more inserts, it is possible to feed two A5 inserts from each A3 station to handle mailings with up to 13 enclosures!. We can handle high volumes to meet your postal deadlines.

Inserts can be automatically nested into the main enclosure or magazine. We are also able to enclose CD's, credit type cards and other awkward inserts with our integrated feeder. Heavier items, up to A3 in size, are enclosed using the friction gate feed.

To improve the presentation of polywrapped mailings, we have added a heat tunnel to shrink on-line for a tighter fit. All machines are also equipped with on-line inkjet to address carrier sheets or directly onto polythene.

Inkjetting

We have the very latest technology for high quality inkjet.

High quality printing is a priority at DP Direct, which is why we have invested in three types of versatile inkjet machines to print onto a wide range of materials and sizes, from C6 up to 394 x 452mm (larger than A3).

We use Scitex 5240 for quality printing onto envelopes and other absorbent materials. It uses a 1" head and offers the highest resolution on the market, featuring crisp character definition. Whats more the Scitex can print up to 5 meters per second in black or blue ink.

The Domino Array is a versatile high-speed inkjet printer capable of printing up to 8 lines of addresses within the 1 1/2" head. The ink used dries instantly and is therefore suitable for any materials including polythene and glossy cards. The Domino also offers high resolution print and can address 22,000 envelopes per hour.

Finally, the newest of our inkjets, the Domino Bitjet 212 can print on a wide variety of coated and un-coated material. It gives high definition and quality print for detailed graphics and multiple bar-code formats, all within the 2" head.

We have coupled the inkjet printers with bases which enable us to feed documents quickly and accurately. So, however large or ugent your mailing, at DP Direct we have the capability to address vast quantities each day to meet your deadlines.

Hand enclosing

Where machines can't finish the job, our team of experienced bench workers can. Machines cannot always replace people!

However rapidly new technology is developed, we will always need our team of dedicated bench hands where machines cannot help. Around 25 people, who have been loyal to us for many years, provide an endless list of specialised hand enclosing functions with precision, speed and accuracy.

Their specialities include blind matching, postal tube enclosing, specialist stitching and inserting additional objects after machine enclosing. It's worth remembering that we also offer hand enclosing for mailings that are of smaller quantities or too complicated for machines.

So, if you have something you want to mail, that won't conform to machine standards, don't despair! We can always resort to the tried and tested human touch - that never fails!

Machine enclosing

DP Direct have invested in the most sophisticated enclosing machines to handle complex mailings.

As direct mail becomes more creative and complex, DP Direct has responded with the technology to make it happen. We have invested in a wide variety of enclosing machines to handle an impressive combination of inserts in all shapes and sizes.

Most of our machines are fitted with end-fold attachments or shuttle feed mechanism to handle items with a leading edge at the side. Stream feeders are available for awkward enclosures such as concertina folds plus we have a batch feeder for multiple inserts.

The enclosing machines can handle any size envelope between C5 and C4+ with up to 8 inserts with options of camera match.

Storage & distribution

We can store products and literature in our large and secure warehousing facility comprising collectively of 100,000 square foot. With the ability to effectively manage stock to 'just-in-time' re-ordering.

Storage of publications and promotional literature can be accommodated. We have both bulk pallet facilities as well as a forward order picking facility. All stock is maintained on our computer system. Publishers with small lists of titles or large one-off requirements are also catered for.

For some of our large clients, we set up whole customised bays so that large items of collateral can be stored clearly and is easily available to the pick and pack team.

Response handling that can provide valuable extra resource to manage a sudden need or longer term contract where we effectively become a full-time part of your team.

A fully comprehensive fulfilment service whatever your requirements, we can provide the solutions you need when you need them most.

Our outbound call centre has dedicated agents to carry out market research via telephone questionnaires on your behalf, both consumer and B2B. Providing you with detailed analysis and reports of your campaigns based on your requirements.

Additional services

We have a multitude of machines and equipment to handle the whole mailing production smoothly and efficiently. For clients this means a seamless delivery from original brief to final mailout with no worries.

Folding
Basically, we can fold any size sheet that we laser print or that you may supply. All the folding machines handle paper up to A1 and can do single, cross and double cross folds as well as single and multiple slitting and perforating. To reduce paper wastage, all our folding machines have built-in miss-feed detection. The latest folder is equipped with glue lines for horse shoe adhesion application as well as peelable or permanent latex for self-mailers and spine gluing.

Slit and Merge
We have two units that initially slit continuous stationery, then guillotine to A4, jog to precision and fold to produce items 210mm, A5 or DL. The merge/fold unit is used to nest items that have been personalised on continuous stationary and have both personalised sides facing in the same direction.

The continuous Merge/Fold units can work independently on pack continuous or be integrated to our Nipson continuous laser printers, allowing for use on pre-printed reels as well.

Glue/Tabbing Combination
We can now accommodate a variety of glued-on extras to your mailing. we can affix sealing tabs to self-mailers and glue items such as cards or leaflets to other items, using either permanent or easi-peal adhesive. we can offer a combination of these functions plus on-line inkjet and folding for the maximum flexibility.

Postage Stamps for the personal touch
Our stamp machine can affix postage stamps (minimum 5,000) to envelopes and postcards from C6 to C4, then for mailsort posting, overprint cancellation lines to still achieve the maximum mailsort discounts.
